Cheer up anime fans! High School DXD has been renewed for season 5. The light novel anime adaptation will be back to our screens pretty soon. Fans have been going crazy all over social media demanding renewal of the show. However, the show is now set to bring a new season.
About High School DXD
High School DXD is a Japanese anime series. As mentioned above, the show is adapted from light novels of the same name. It is written by Ichiei Ishibumi and directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa. In addition, the storyline of the show is written by Takao Yoshiyoka. It originally aired on Japanese anime television At-X. But, the show is licensed by different production houses in different countries.
High School DXD is the depiction of a high school boy named Issei. He is characterized to be perverted, unpopular kid desperately looking for a girlfriend. To his surprise, he is asked out by a girl named Yuuma Amano. At the end of their date, Yuuma reveals herself as Raynare, a fallen angel. She asks Issei to die for her sake and finally kills him. Subsequently, he sees visions of Rias, the President of Occult Research Club. He brushes it off thinking of her vision to be a dream. Later, Rias saves Issei from another fallen angel. Issei realizes that it’s not a dream and Rias revived her from dying. He also discovers that Rias is a devil and ends up being her servant. Consequently, he becomes a pawn in the conflict between devils and angels.
Certainly, the show has majorly received positive reviews. However, it has also been criticized for its explicit content. Hence, High School DXD was not released in New Zealand. They stated,”it encourages and legitimizes the pursuit of young people as viable adult sexual partners”
Release Date of High School DXD
High School DXD is the most anticipated anime show. Till now, four seasons have been released. Netflix has dropped two seasons yet. However, all four seasons can be streamed on Funimation. Fans have been speculating about the release dates for two years now. There are petitions on social media demanding Season 5 of High School DXD.

Initially, season 5 was expected to come out in 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is considered that the new season will drop in 2021. The Passione Studio is going to start their work on High School DxD Season 5. The creators of the show have decided to include snippets of Volume 11 and 12 from the novel.
