The Amazon Luna is now available in the United States. If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can sign up for the programme right now and check it out for free.
However, it’s not quite that straightforward, since there are a few different methods to use Amazon Luna, not all of them are free. Still, if you’re a Prime member, go over to Prime Gaming to check out the first few games available for streaming.
What is Amazon Luna?
Amazon Luna has been in early access for almost a year, with plans to launch in late 2020 in the United States for those who opted in. It’s completely functional, but only in the United States for the time being. There’s no news on when it’ll be accessible elsewhere, but now that it’s here, here’s all you need to know about the service.
Simply said, Luna is a cloud gaming platform divided into various ‘Channels,’ or optional portions. With the exception of one for Prime members, the most of these are pay-to-access. Retro Channel, Family Channel, Jackbox Games Channel, Ubisoft+, Luna+, and ultimately Prime Gaming Channel are all options.
Devil May Cry 5, Observer System Redux, PHOGS!, and Flashback will be available to Prime subscribers in March. Immortals Fenyx Rising will also be free to play for a short time from March 8 to 15, rather than the entire month.
You have a few options when it comes to the paid channel choosing. Street Fighter II, Metal Slug 3, and Castlevania Anniversary Collection are among the vintage titles available on the Retro Channel, which costs $4.99 per month. Control Ultimate Edition, Dirt 5, Sonic Mania, Ghostrunner, Call of the Sea, and several current titles are included with Luna+. Luna+ is a $5.99/month subscription that is not included with Amazon Prime.
Amazon Luna is presently available for PC, Mac, Fire TV, Fire tablet, Chromebook, and iPhone, iPad, and Android phones via web browser applications. According to Amazon, Luna can play games at a resolution of up to 1080p/60fps. This is very dependent on the device you’re using, the speed of your internet connection, and the game you’re trying to stream right now. For 1080p streaming, Amazon recommends a minimum of 10 megabits per second. You should also use the 5GHz Wi-Fi band on your network if possible.
Luna also has a “Couch Mode,” which is worth mentioning. This implies that even if you aren’t a member, you may accept an invite code from a buddy to play local multiplayer games.
